Island Health to Launch Integrated Vocantas CallAssure™ and Kronos ESP™ Scheduling Solution
Ottawa, Ontario - June 1, 2015 - Island Health, one of six health authorities serving 765 000 people on Vancouver Island and parts of mainland British Columbia with over 18 000 staff offering a variety of services, recently selected Vocantas to integrate with their existing scheduling system, Kronos’ Workforce ESP. Kronos provides innovative workforce management solutions to businesses across the globe, and has developed powerful staff scheduling software for the health care industry. The integrated Vocantas and Kronos solution enables Island Health to automate their relief staff scheduling processes almost entirely, maximizing connectivity with staff members, filling more vacant shifts more quickly, and reducing costs.
Island Health chose to procure an automated, interactive voice solution to connect with staff in order to streamline communications and reduce costs associated with tying up valuable time to make individual phone calls. The automated calls are quick and intelligent, asking staff to confirm their acceptance of full and partial shifts and updating all information in a secure portal. Staff members can select their preferred mode of contact, whether it is mobile phone, SMS, or email, in a secure web portal. The system recommends shift award based on collective bargaining agreements and Island Health’s business rules using preconfigured criteria embedded in Kronos’ Workforce ESP.
“We are pleased to work with Kronos to provide intelligent staff communication to Island Health,” said Gary T. Hannah, CEO for Vocantas. “This powerful solution will contribute significantly to increasing operational efficiency and decreasing operational costs at Island Health. We are excited to share this solution with other Kronos Workforce ESP customers looking to streamline and automate their scheduling processes.”
“Our partnership with Vocantas enables Vancouver Island Health to extend Workforce ESP’s automated scheduling capabilities with the ability to quickly fill shifts that become available after a schedule is created,” said Spiros Paleologos, Kronos Canada’s Vice President and General Manager. “It is our pleasure to work with Vocantas so that healthcare institutions can take advantage of an automated solution that supports compliance with collective bargaining agreements.”
“Island Health is committed to the delivery of outstanding patient and client care. The combined Vocantas and Kronos technology we are deploying will play a critical role going forward in raising the level of care we can deliver as we eliminate delays in filling shifts,” said Shawn Robinson, Director Staff Scheduling, Vancouver Island Health Authority. “Now, calls to staff will be automated and performed concurrently, allowing us to connect with large pools of staff in just seconds. In the past, we manually called staff in a sequential format to try to fill relief shifts. The efficiencies created by this combined technology will ensure facilities have the right staff at the right time to deliver the outstanding care we are committed to.”
